Frequently Asked Questions

What is HomeAid?

HomeAid is a virtual fund-raising campaign to benefit America’s homeless families, children, and veterans.

Using online video contributed by celebrities, performers, and people like you, we are raising funds to go to organizations that benefit the homeless, including the national nonprofit organization HomeAid.

The campaign will be capped by a live online telethon in November, 2011 during National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week.

Since sponsors cover the cost of the event, the producers of HomeAid do not keep any of the donations.

Who can take part in HomeAid?

Anyone! You don’t have to be a celebrity or Grammy winning performer to contribute to HomeAid. Just create your own video that brings attention to the problem of homelessness, and upload it to our site.

Be creative – you can write a song to raise awareness, or interview a family who have lost their home due to foreclosure.

Your work will be shared with thousands of others, and could be featured live during the HomeAid online telethon in November, 2011.

How do I join the video contest?

Check out the Video Contest page to learn how to submit your video to the contest.

There are many awards to win, including Highest Rated and Most Views. Official HomeAid “judges” will also select several videos for special awards based on message or impact.

Prizes include merchandise, gift cards, and the chance to appear live on the HomeAid online telethon.

How do I host a House Party?

During National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week we will stream a live fundraising telethon on our website.

At the same time people from across the country will throw “House Parties” to watch and participate.

Simply invite your friends (and neighbors!) over to your home or favorite local hangout, and have a webcam ready.

Register your House Party with the HomeAid website and stream it live to thousands of others.

There are many things to do at a HomeAid House Party. Invite a local artist to perform live, read a moving poem on helping the homeless, or do anything else that will show this cause is important to you. The sky is the limit.

People who watch your House Party will be able to donate instantly to help prevent homelessness.
